SMALL BOAT MACHINERY SPACE - PYROGEN FIRE SUPPRESSION SYSTEM

This is to confirm that the Maritime and Coastguard Agency (MCA) is satisfied that the Pyrogen, Pyrotechnically  Generated Fire Extinguishing Aerosol System, has successfully completed testing in accordance with the Small Boat Machinery Small Testing Protocol.  The system is acceptable for the purpose of complying with the requirements of a Fixed Fire Extinguishing system for the following Codes:-

1. The Codes of Practice for the Safety of Small Commercial Motor or Sailing Vessels of up to 24 metres Load Line length;

2. The Code of Practice for the Safety of Small Workboats and Pilot Boats;

3. The Code of Practice for the Police Boats; and

4. The Fishing Vessels (Safety Provisions) Rules 1975 for craft less then 24.4 metres Registered Length.

The Pyrogen system is considered suitable for installation in machinery spaces containing fuel having a flash point of not less than 43 deg C (closed cup test), of small vessels of less than 24 metres load line length, where the space to be protected does not exceed a deck height of 4 metres or an area of 64 m2.

Upon receipt of the technical documentation a Certificate of Type approval will be issued.
