Computer Test No. #1

What do you do with your older PC's?
We burn them !

Data centers,

The below series of photos show a Compaq Desk top PC in a test chamber with PyroGen Generators. Since this is a working PC,  we used a Hurricane Lantern in the lower section to simulate a small office fire. The lantern is a very hard flame ot put out. The lanterns are designed not to be "blown out" and have a very small entry point for the extinguishment agent to enter the globe.

If this test was done in a normal fire protection,  water sprinklers, can you image how much water it would take to extinguish the Kerosene Lantern, not to mention the water damage to the PC?  On September 15, 2000 we tested our Pyrogen aerosol on an operating Personal Computer. Try this with an HFC or CFC fire fighting agent and they may put out the fire,  but when exposed to a flame they  produce HF Acids will still destroy the computer. Either drowned or dissolved you still lose the computer. You can flood with CO2, but you can not breathe CO2. With Pyrogen you just vent the space and go back to work. PyroGen is Non Conductive, Non Corrosive, Non Toxic....Pyrogen does not remove the oxygen in the space and does not deplete the Ozone layer or add to Global Warming. (zero ODP & zero GDP).

The above sequence shows the Personal computer operating with the Kerosene Lantern burning on the bottom shelf.
The PyroGen generator is located on the top of the test chamber with the red wire lead.
The second and third photo shows the PyroGen aerosol agent entering the chamber.

This series has led to the development of PyroRack, a 2U 19' enclosure for servers to telecommunications cabinets. The ultimate solution, Local Flooding protection, at the risk. Don't flood your entire server roon, Just suppress the bad cabinet.

The next set of photo's above, shows the excess agent venting from the test enclosure, the center shows the computer still operating and the lantern extinguished. The final photo shows the clean up required after the fire. (Note the sheet of white bond paper). Which would you prefer, tons of water or the last photo? Click any photo for a larger view.
